Confirm identity, status, eligibility or other approved information through the evolving TRIDENT and EBC API catalogue, receiving only the response required for the service.

Government agencies and authorised organisations can use approved TRIDENT and EBC APIs to retrieve or confirm verified identity-related information required for a service or transaction.

Initial services may support identity, age, address, document status and eligibility checks. As the TRIDENT Verified Data Gateway (VDG) evolves, additional APIs and governed data products may be added to the catalogue based on Government priorities, authoritative-source readiness and approved relying-party needs.

How it works

  1. The relying party selects an available API or data product.
  2. Its organisation, application and use case are registered and approved.
  3. TRIDENT applies the relevant authentication, scope, purpose, policy and consent controls.
  4. The protected EBC API or TRIDENT VDG service returns the authorised response.
  5. If required, selected metadata of the interaction is recorded for auditability.

Possible responses

Depending on the available API and approved use case, the service may receive:

  • a verified attribute or attribute set;
  • a match or validation result;
  • identity, document or registration status;
  • a masked value;
  • a derived response;
  • an eligibility confirmation;
  • a yes/no result;
  • another approved identity-related data product.

An evolving catalogue

Each new API or data product should define its:

  • purpose and authoritative source;
  • data owner and permitted consumers;
  • approved attributes or response type;
  • authorisation and consent model;
  • data-minimisation rules;
  • assurance and audit requirements.

The catalogue is therefore more than a technical list of endpoints. It is a governed set of reusable identity-related services that can expand progressively with TRIDENT VDG.
