Approve and Sign a Sensitive Transaction

Ask users to review and approve a specific digital action, with the option to create an advanced digital signature and trusted timestamp when required.

Government agencies and authorised organisations can use TRIDENT to obtain explicit user approval before completing a sensitive digital action.

Authentication confirms who the user is. Transaction approval confirms that the user agrees to a specific action. Where the transaction requires a signed result, the same journey can continue into a certificate-based advanced digital signature.

How it works

  1. The connected service initiates the transaction and provides its relevant details.
  2. TRIDENT asks the user to review the action.
  3. The user approves or rejects it using an accepted authentication method.
  4. Where required, TRIDENT creates the advanced digital signature.
  5. A trusted timestamp may be added to provide evidence of when the signature occurred.
  6. The result and relevant audit evidence are returned to the service.

Approval and signing options

Depending on the use case and assurance required, the journey may use:

  • Mobile ID;
  • a one-time password sent by email;
  • the physical TRIDENT ID Card, where enabled;
  • a Wallet-based interaction, where enabled;
  • Remote Signing ID for advanced digital signatures;
  • trusted timestamping where required.

Signing keys are protected through TRIDENT trust services and HSM-backed cryptographic infrastructure. The relying party initiates the signing journey but does not directly manage the citizen’s private signing key.
