Government agencies and authorised organisations can use TRIDENT to obtain explicit user approval before completing a sensitive digital action.
Authentication confirms who the user is. Transaction approval confirms that the user agrees to a specific action. Where the transaction requires a signed result, the same journey can continue into a certificate-based advanced digital signature.
How it works
- The connected service initiates the transaction and provides its relevant details.
- TRIDENT asks the user to review the action.
- The user approves or rejects it using an accepted authentication method.
- Where required, TRIDENT creates the advanced digital signature.
- A trusted timestamp may be added to provide evidence of when the signature occurred.
- The result and relevant audit evidence are returned to the service.
Approval and signing options
Depending on the use case and assurance required, the journey may use:
- Mobile ID;
- a one-time password sent by email;
- the physical TRIDENT ID Card, where enabled;
- a Wallet-based interaction, where enabled;
- Remote Signing ID for advanced digital signatures;
- trusted timestamping where required.
Signing keys are protected through TRIDENT trust services and HSM-backed cryptographic infrastructure. The relying party initiates the signing journey but does not directly manage the citizen’s private signing key.
